Festival of Forgiveness
Across two days (Friday February 27 and Saturday February 28), the Church of Chicago will offer special opportunities for the celebration of the Sacrament of Penance, prayers for healing, and intercessory prayer for the gift of peace in our hearts, our families, our communities, and our world. At Assumption we will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation on February 27 from 11:35 to 12:05, from 12:30 to 1:30, and from 5:00 to 6:00pm. On February 28 confessions will be heard from 11:00 to 12:00 noon and from 4:00 to 4:45pm.
Helping Those In Need
The Servite Secular Order at Assumption is conducting a toiletries drive to benefit Zacchaeus House, a transitional shelter for men, and the House of the Good Shepherd, which provides housing for women and children who are survivors of domestic abuse. Donations may be placed in the collection box by the Vatican flag.
Ministry Fair
There will be no rides, games of chance, or displays of animal husbandry at this Fair. Instead, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the various ministries and volunteer activities at Assumption and at other non-profits and service organizations. The Fair will be held in the Parish Hall after all weekend Masses, February 28 - March 1.
Super Bowl Sunday
Yes, we know you want to watch the Big Game. Our 5:00pm Mass on Sunday February 1 will be celebrated a little more simply and expeditiously. It should be over by 5:35, which is when the game usually begins. In other words, Mass will be "slightly deflated."
Social Security and Medicare
Assumption is hosting a free workshop to help those approaching retirement better understand Social Security and Medicare and how to maximize benefits. The presentation will be made twice: on Wednesday January 28 and Wednesday February 4 from 7:00 to 8:00pm in the Rectory Meeting Room.
