This is the feast day for Our Lady of Guadalupe. The virgin Mary appeared to St Juan Diego, an Aztec convert, in the 1500s and she is recognized and honored as the patron saint of Mexico. She represents the unity of Indigenous and European people and is a national symbol of Mexico. Do you pray to Mary? Say the rosary? Or have you a special affinity for the Virgin Mary? Praying to Mary and the saints is asking them to intercede with God on our behalf. Assumption church is served by priests in the order of Servants of Mary known as Servites.
