The next seven commandments govern our dealings with each other. Honor your father and mother (4). Easy or hard to do in your family? For some it’s a piece of cake and for others not so much. But what other meanings could be represented in mother/father of the commandment? Besides our actual parents who has authority? A priest is called father. Does the church or government represent a parent? Are civil organizations parental? Should they be honored?

Challenge: Discuss with a friend the role of parent in the fourth commandment both within the family and in society.
